UNAIDS, AIDS Commission Sex Talk Forum

Source: UNAIDS

Friday the 17th of May 2013 saw the second edition of sex talk forum commence at the Kama Conference Centre.

The night was hosted by the UNAIDS Country Coordinator (UCC) for Ghana, Mr. Girmay Haile, Mrs. Flora Sackey marriage counsellor, and Rev. George Lutterodt a counsellor and Sex Therapist.

For this edition of Sex Talk Forum, the Ghana Protect the Goal Campaign, led by UNAIDS and Ghana AIDS Commission, partnered with Kaylers Communications to organize the session.

KEY ISSUES AND INFORMATION BY UCC

The talk started off with a talk form the UCC, who presented to the audience some key issues about HIV in Ghana. Mr. Haile explained that by improving the public’s awareness of practising safe sex, this can ultimately help reduce the spread of new HIV infection. Ghana has been placed as one of the top seven countries in the world which is successfully reducing its infection rate. The reducing infection rate in Ghana has been closely linked with the increasing number of people who receive treatment for HIV.

The UCC went on to explain that increased condom use amongst FSW was also another major contributing factor to the reduction of new infections. Condoms are the only form of contraception available that protects against not only HIV, but other STIs and unwanted pregnancies the UCC therefore encouraged condom use at a higher rate.

SELF ESTEEM AND PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Mrs Flora Sackey gave advice about self-esteem as low self-esteem can have a strong effect on your personal relationships, especially when it comes to sex. People with low self-esteem seem to treat themselves badly, this self-neglect reflects on how they perceive love through sex. Low self-esteem can be a cause of many factors, such as being bullied at school or having parents who don’t give their child love. Girls with low self-esteem may lose their confidence and are unable to assert their views, for example, if he won't wear a condom. If you're confident, it means you can say 'no condom, no sex!’.

SHOULD RELIGION BE AN OBSTACAL TO YOUR KNOWLEDGE ON SEXUAL HEALTH?

Rev George Lutterdot talked about the importance of sex education, and knowing the important key facts about condoms and HIV. He suggested that Christians and people from other faiths should not be afraid to speak openly about sex. Speaking about sex does not make you less of a Christian, or religious person but more knowledgeable and self-aware.

Therefore, parents must play a greater role in educating their kids on this topic.

  2. On the webchat, who just can not meet. Often there are conversations with “dirty daddies”, but there are some cool people among them, with whom you can discuss politics or just chat about anything. The main thing is to come back to talk later. Sometimes it is even offensive when a person from the “permanent” stops coming to you and moves on to another model. I think that virtual sex https://myteenwebcam.com/ with the same girl just bored. What do you think?
